Winners have to meet a strict criteria including sea water quality and beach purity. Only five prizes have been awarded to beaches in Thailand in 2010 making this win for Aleenta even more prestigious.

Aleenta’s Environmental Efforts Continue

Coral Park Project

Aleenta's work on supporting the ecosystem continues to gain momentum with efforts focused on protecting coral gardens close to the coast of the Aleenta Resort & Spa Phuket-Phangna. The aptly named 'Coral Park' project forms part of Aleenta's corporate social responsibility drive launched with an aim to raise funds to rebuild and replenish the damaged coral reef.

The gala fundraising event starts with an action-packed beach treasure hunt at 3 p.m. followed by delicious food and drinks on the beach, entertainment and an exciting auction.

Sea Turtle Fund

In addition to the Coral Park Project Aleenta continues with its support for the turtle sanctuary close to Phuket, managed by the Phang Nga Coastal Fisheries Research and Development Center in Thai Muang. Located a short drive north of the Aleenta resort, the sanctuary is close to a critical nesting area for marine turtles.

Over the past four years, Aleenta has raised close to one million baht for the sanctuary whilst also being actively involved with educational and awareness raising programs within the local community.

Aleenta is currently involved with the publication of a Thai and English book designed to educate local people and tourists about the turtles and their habitat, explaining how people can help support the foundation.
