Sea Turtle Fund

The Aleenta Resort and Spa Kok Kloy Turtle Initiative:

Guilt Free Luxury
Checking into a luxury resort had always been about self indulgence. At Aleenta, it can also be a good deed. Aleenta's Mission Statement is not just about being environmentally friendly, but also socially responsible. Our guests can choose to help others while spoiling themselves. Simply by relaxing on Aleenta's peaceful stretch of beautiful beachfront property, guests are part of a greater effort of conservation.

Marine Turtle Foundation
Marine Turtles roamed this planet prior to the dinosaurs, evidence suggest they date back over 150 million years! Thailand has four species of Marine Turtles and all of them are being severely threatened by over development and over fishing. The Leatherback Marine Turtle, the world's largest living reptile, has been listed as globally endangered since 1970, and was confirmed as "Critically Endangered in Thailand" in 1996. The Turtle population is dropping quickly and dramatically. In response, Aleenta has created a Marine Turtle Foundation to support local turtle re -population, rehabilitation and education.

Aleenta Resort and Spa in Phang Na is lucky to be located just 20 minutes south of the beautiful and pristine Khao Lumpee- Haad Thaymuang National Park. This park houses a Turtle Sanctuary which serves as an important foothold to the future of Marine Turtles in Thailand. Upon check-in, Aleenta educates guests on turtle conservation and matches donations of THB40/per night to the Turtle Sanctuary. Aleenta has also pledged a second annual THB100,000 donation to our Marine Turtle Foundation.

In addition to financial support of this sanctuary, Aleenta employs a full time representative to work alongside the diligent staff as they tend to over 200 turtle hatchlings and rehabilitate injured turtles. The sanctuary is lucky to house all four species of Marine Turtles currently found in Thailand: the Leatherback, the Olive Ridley, the Hawksbill, and the Green Turtle. We welcome guests to join our day trip to visit this spectacular park and learn more about these turtles. Spending time amongst so many marine turtles is a wonderfully memorable vacation experience.

Recognizing that the future of the marine turtles requires community wide cooperation and understanding, Aleenta has launched its own concentrated education campaign for local school children. Aleenta is currently working together with other local efforts including Mai Khao Marine Turtle Foundation and Naucrates conservation project.

Protecting these majestic creatures is not a simple gesture, it is however, a very rewarding lifetime project. Aleenta is proud to be a part of a commitment that will enhance our natural surroundings for years to come. Thank you for helping us saving the beautiful environment you have come from afar to enjoy.
