How to Get Married in Thailand

All foreigners considering getting married in Thailand need to contact their respective embassy to complete all paperwork. Wedding ceremonies held at any Aleenta Resort & Spa location are just a celebration for the couple, not a legal procedure. For the marriage to be legally binding (recognized and legalized), we advise the wedding couple to register their marriage in their own country before coming to Thailand.

A Civil Ceremony in Thailand requires the following:

• The affidavits from the couple’s respective embassies stating that they have never been married. The affidavits need to be officially translated into Thai through the Thai consulate or Thai embassy in their home country.
• The English and Thai copies of the affidavits must be taken, by the couple, to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bangkok to be certified. Note, this takes approximately 2 business days to complete.
• The certified copies can be brought to Phuket, where the local official from the registry office will make the marriage official.
