At Aleenta Hua Hin – Pranburi Resort & Spa, we love celebrating life along the coast. Staying with us means more than a beachfront escape. It means being part of a lively region filled with culture, tradition, music, sport and local flavour. Whether you’re here for a weekend or an extended holiday, there’s nearly always something happening nearby to add colour and character to your stay.
From beachside jazz evenings to lively seafood markets and centuries-old customs, Hua Hin and Pranburi offer a wonderful mix of experiences throughout the year. Here’s a closer look at the festivals and events we look forward to sharing with our guests.
Events and Festivals across Hua Hin
Hua Hin is best known for its relaxed pace and beachside charm, but the town also has a calendar filled with local and international events that bring people together through music, food and Thai tradition.
Hua Hin International Jazz Festival
Each year, usually in June, the sands of Hua Hin Beach come alive with smooth rhythms and sea breezes. The Jazz Festival welcomes talented performers from Thailand and around the world, offering free concerts in a laid-back, open-air setting. It’s the perfect excuse for a balmy evening walk followed by music under the stars.
Hua Hin Food Festival
A true highlight for food lovers, this event typically takes place in the summer months. Stalls line the beachfront, offering regional favourites from across Thailand alongside fresh seafood and sweet treats. Local chefs, restaurants, and resorts participate, making it a great way to explore Thai cuisine in one place.
Songkran Thai New Year
Celebrated every April, Songkran marks the Thai New Year with water play, temple visits and family gatherings. In Hua Hin and Pranburi, it’s a gentle version of the festivities found in Bangkok or Chiang Mai. Many of our guests join locals for respectful morning water blessings, alms-giving to monks, and community-led parades featuring dancing and music.
Loy Krathong
Taking place in November on the full moon, Loy Krathong is one of Thailand’s most beautiful and meaningful festivals. People float candle-lit krathongs made from banana leaves and flowers to pay respects to the water and let go of past worries. At Aleenta, we offer guests the opportunity to create their krathongs using natural materials before releasing them into the sea.
Local Life And Culture In Pranburi
Pranburi may be quieter than Hua Hin, but it holds its own when it comes to heartfelt festivals and lively traditions. Events here often feel more intimate and local, giving you a chance to experience the true rhythm of the region.
Longtail Boat Races
During the dry season, particularly in October and November, local fishing communities host friendly longtail boat races. These are typically held near temples or riversides, with families gathering to cheer on their favourites. The races are fast, colourful and full of community spirit.
Cycling And Outdoor Events
Pranburi’s scenic coastal roads and national park routes make it a favourite for cyclists. Several events take place across the year, especially near Pranburi Dam and Khao Sam Roi Yot. Guests at our resort often join in on our complimentary bike rides or cheer from the sidelines during rallies and group rides.
Dragon Boat Racing
Occasionally hosted at reservoirs or local lakes, dragon boat races are high-energy and visually striking. With beautifully decorated boats and synchronised paddling, these races often coincide with royal or national holidays. We’re always happy to help guests attend if an event is taking place nearby.
Isan Cultural Nights
Isan refers to Thailand’s northeast, and its music, food and traditions are loved throughout the country. In Pranburi, Isan-themed nights pop up during festivals or temple events. Expect grilled meats, spicy salads, and energetic Mor Lam music echoing into the night.
Special Events And Seasonal Highlights
Vintage Car Rallies
Classic car rallies frequently appear in Hua Hin, with routes often including stops in Pranburi. Guests can sometimes spot rows of polished vintage cars parked along scenic roads or in front of heritage hotels. These rallies are great for taking photos and engaging in conversation with collectors.
Horse Riding And Polo Traditions
Horse riding is a part of Hua Hin’s royal history. Pony rides along the beach are available year-round, while the Hua Hin Horse Club occasionally hosts competitions. Polo was once a major event here, and although the King’s Cup Elephant Polo Tournament has ended, interest in riding continues through equestrian centres in the region.
Cricket Matches
Cricket may not be widely played in Thailand, but Hua Hin is home to a few active teams. Occasional matches are held, particularly at private schools or sports complexes. These low-key events often attract expat crowds and guests who share a passion for the game.
Shellfish And Seafood Markets
From Cha-am down to Pak Nam Pran, seafood is a way of life. Markets celebrating the sea’s bounty often appear during weekends or public holidays. Think grilled prawns, fresh crab, spicy dipping sauces and plenty of Thai sweets. These markets are best enjoyed with a cold drink and time to wander.
