Barefoot_Luxury_1.jpg

Being barefoot is an expression of cosiness and being at home. Barefoot, as mentioned in the poem “The Barefoot Boy” written in 1855 by John Greenleaf Whittier, symbolises innocence or childhood in a perception of freedom from real life requirements. Meanwhile, going barefoot is not unusual in the Orient. No one in the Far East is allowed to enter a mosque or walk on the “holy ground” with shoes on. The priests of Israel go barefoot when ministering, while Buddhist monks in Thailand do not wear shoes during the alms-giving ceremony every morning. The removal of the shoes in such cases serve as a perfectly natural symbol of humility and the simplicity of life.

In the modern perspective, naked feet have more meaning than ever. The main character in a British sitcom “Love, Nina” arrives barefoot at the house for a nanny job interview and is widely perceived as young, fearless, and a free spirit. Today, being barefoot has become a symbol of being confident, independent, smart, energetic, and nature loving.

And now, all these positive and powerful attitudes are being celebrated in the barefoot crowd at Aleenta.
