Khao Lak Beaches

Khao Lak Beaches - Aleenta Phuket - Phang Nga Resort & Spa

The beaches of Khao Lak stretch gracefully along the Phang Nga coastline, offering a quieter and more natural alternative to the busier shores of Phuket. With over 40 kilometres of sand, this region is ideal for those wanting unspoiled beauty, a relaxed pace, and meaningful moments by the sea. Whether you’re visiting for a romantic break, a family holiday, or a wellness-focused escape, Khao Lak has a beach to match your mood.

At Aleenta Phuket – Phang Nga Resort & Spa, we have been welcoming guests to this part of the world for many years. Situated just south of Khao Lak on Natai Beach, we often guide our visitors towards the best beaches in the area, depending on the experience they are looking for.

  • Nang Thong Beach

As the central hub of Khao Lak, Nang Thong Beach is lively without feeling overwhelming. There are plenty of shops, bars and restaurants, and the beach itself is spacious, soft underfoot, and well-maintained. Coconut palms sway gently along the shore, and the Andaman Sea is usually calm, particularly during the dry season. It is a good starting point for first-time visitors.

  • Bang Niang Beach

Located just north of Nang Thong, Bang Niang Beach strikes a balance between tranquillity and local energy. While still peaceful, a growing mix of dining spots, small shops, and beach bars is emerging. This area is ideal for relaxed days in the sun, followed by dinner at a nearby restaurant. The water is clear, the sand soft, and the atmosphere friendly and unhurried.

  • Sunset Beach

Tucked beneath a tree-covered hillside, Sunset Beach feels quiet and secluded without being far from the centre. The natural shade and smaller hotels give it a more intimate feel, making it especially popular with couples. It’s perfect for those who want to enjoy the sea and sand in a serene, secluded setting.

  • Khao Lak South Beach

This beach, located alongside Khao Lak–Lam Ru National Park, is one of the most peaceful in the area. It is shaded, quiet and backed by forest, creating a wonderful blend of jungle and sea. The beach is ideal for gentle walks, reading under the trees or simply enjoying the sound of the waves without distraction.

  • Khuk Khak Beach

For those who appreciate open space and prefer solitude, Khuk Khak Beach is a peaceful choice. The coastline here is primarily undeveloped, and it is not unusual to have long stretches of sand to yourself. There are a few local eateries and the occasional fishing boat, but overall, the area remains a place for calm reflection and slow movement.

  • Pakweeb Beach

Pakweeb Beach is one of Khao Lak’s cleanest and best-preserved. As part of a National Park, motorised watercraft are not permitted, so the water remains clear and still. It is a favourite for long swims and sunbathing without interruption. The beach boasts a soft, powdery texture and a timeless beauty that draws visitors back time and again.

  • White Sand Beach

True to its name, this beach is defined by its bright sand and clear waters. Surrounded by tropical greenery, White Sand Beach offers a postcard-perfect setting just 15 minutes from the town centre. It is an excellent choice for relaxed swimming, dining by the sea, or simply enjoying a classic Thai beach day.

  • Pakarang Cape

Pakarang Cape is better known for its wild, natural beauty than for swimming. The beach here is composed of crushed coral, with limited shaded areas and a windswept feel. It attracts surfers during the monsoon months and beachcombers throughout the year. The views are striking, especially at sunset, and the cape itself is a serene spot for a peaceful stroll.

  • Thai Muang Beach

Located between Phuket and Khao Lak, Thai Muang Beach is a lesser-known gem. The area is protected and quiet, with soft sand, turquoise water and a relaxed local village atmosphere. Highlights include a nearby sea turtle conservation centre and several small waterfalls. This is an ideal choice for nature lovers.

  • Coconut Beach

Just north of Pakweeb, Coconut Beach offers the best of both worlds: natural scenery and enough facilities to enjoy a full day by the sea. It remains quiet but accessible, with soft sand, shallow water and a scattering of palm trees that provide natural shade. Local restaurants serve Thai favourites steps from the sand.

  • Memories Beach

Popular with beginner surfers and beach cafés, Memories Beach has a relaxed energy and a youthful feel. The waves here are gentle enough for beginners to learn to surf, and the atmosphere is casual and friendly. Whether you want to paddle out or relax with a cold drink, it is a lovely option with a social yet unspoilt charm.

  • Small Sandy Beach

Hidden within Khao Lak–Lam Ru National Park, Small Sandy Beach is a little cove that can only be reached on foot. The walk is short and scenic, and the beach offers calm waters and total seclusion. It is a perfect spot for a quiet picnic, gentle swim, or simply enjoying nature in near silence.

Natai Beach is Worth A Vaisit

While technically not part of Khao Lak, Natai Beach is just a short journey south and remains one of the most peaceful and pristine stretches of coast in Phang Nga. Protected from overdevelopment, it offers ten kilometres of uninterrupted beach, ideal for long walks and quiet mornings.

Our boutique beach resort is situated directly on this beach, and we invite our guests to enjoy its beauty with direct access from their suite or villa. The beach is never crowded and retains a sense of purity that complements our commitment to sustainability and low-impact luxury.

Beach Exploring with Aleenta

Choosing where to go in Khao Lak is part of the joy of visiting this region. Each beach offers something slightly different, from social energy to total seclusion. We often recommend that guests explore more than one beach during their stay to discover what suits them best.

At Aleenta Phuket – Phang Nga Resort & Spa, our team is always happy to help plan a beach-hopping itinerary, recommend the best local stops, and provide everything needed for a perfect day by the sea. Whether you prefer the wild beauty of Pakarang, the soft sands of White Sand Beach, or the privacy of our very own Natai Beach, we are here to make the journey effortless and enjoyable.
