Family Digital Detox Holiday in Pranburi

Family Digital Detox Holiday in Pranburi - Aleenta Hua Hin Resort & Spa

Life has become very fast-paced. Everything we do needs to be done at top speed, so that we can squeeze as much productivity out of each day as possible. To do this, we rely heavily on our cell phones, tablets, computers and any other digital device that promises to make our lives easier. Our children aren’t exempt from this digital-driven world either. Apart from the online chats and games that are part of a 21st century childhood, they also have to rely on devices for education and to complete their schoolwork.

Isn’t it time you all had a break? Wouldn’t you like a time-out from the stress of daily life, and the routine of the working week? But most of all wouldn’t you relish a break from technology and the control that it holds over you and your family? If your answer is yes to any of these questions, we have just the solution for you.

A few hours’ drive south from bustling Bangkok, brings you to the Aleenta Hua Hin – Pranburi Resort & Spa. This luxury boutique resort nestles on the Pak Nam Pran Bay, in the district of Pranburi, and is the perfect spot to unwind and recharge.

It’s about reconnecting as a family unit, spending time together and enjoying each other’s company. At Aleenta Hua Hin, there are many family activities to try and pack into your day.

But don’t worry if you can’t fit them all in; we’re happy to welcome you back at any time!

  • Get creative with clay doll painting
  • Learn to be calm and focus in the yoga class for kids from 6 to 12 years old
  • Who doesn’t love to decorate their own cupcake?

Family Fun

If you’re so used to having a screen in front of you or a phone in your hand, you might feel a little lost without either of those. Once you stop focussing on the pull of technology and succumb to the beauty of the natural environment around you, you’ll find plenty to keep you entertained for the duration of your stay.

Try Something New

Step out of your comfort zone and try your hand at kitesurfing, on one of the best beaches in Thailand for the sport. Pranburi has become a popular place for kitesurfers, and Pak Nam Pran Beach is the perfect place to start. If you’re a beginner, you’ll definitely need a lesson or two to get you started. Experienced kite surfers may still require tuition and advice from local instructors who know the winds around Pranburi. Once you’re strapped up, give yourself up to the ocean, and let the wind blow the cobwebs away.

Mingle With Gentle Giants

When you think of wildlife in Thailand, you think of elephants. These majestic beasts played a central role in Thai society for centuries, and were used for transport and manual labour. The elephant is the national animal of Thailand, and plays an important role in the culture of the country. Nowadays, elephants are an endangered species in Thailand which makes a visit to the Hutsadin Elephant Foundation a must-do activity when at Aleenta Hua Hin Resort.

The Foundation is located about 45 minutes up the coast from the resort, in Hua Hin District. Once there, you can experience these amazing animals up close by walking with them and feeding them, or even giving them a wash. All of the activities are done under the supervision of a mahout, or elephant keeper. You will come away from your experience in awe, and with a better understanding of these gentle giants.

Monkeying Around

Combine sightseeing with a little culture and lots of cheeky animals and plan a visit to Khao Takiab, also known as Chopstick Hill. From the bottom of the hill, you can see the 20m high Buddha overlooking the ocean. Once you’ve navigated the stairs leading to the top, you’ll have superb views over Hua Hin. There are two temples on the mountain, the Wat Khao Lad Temple and a beautiful Chinese Temple. Wander through these magnificent structures at your leisure and feel the calming culture infiltrating your busy mind.

The more common name for this mountain is Monkey Mountain due to the many Macaque monkeys that reside in the area. They roam freely, and are known to be quite cheeky. Hang on to your handbags, as there’s nothing they won’t try to grab! Although they’re quite used to people invading their space, they’re still wild so take care and don’t antagonise them.

Back to Nature

For authentic forest scenery and lush landscape, visit the Pran Buri Forest Park, about 15km north of Aleenta Hua Hin. The raised wooden path of the Mangrove Nature Trail leads around the salt pools and into the heart of the forest. The walk takes about an hour and rewards you with panoramic views from elevated lookout spots along the way.

If you’ve walked half the trail and you feel like a change of scenery, or want to rest your legs, hop on a traditional long-tail boat and let a local guide row you down the Pranburi River. Make sure you stay alert as you may be lucky enough to spot some of the amazing wildlife that calls the Pranburi Forest home. Macaque monkeys, lizards and exotic birds are regularly spotted from the river boats.

Time out from technology is becoming increasingly important in this digital era. To encourage you to take the plunge and go device-free, the Aleenta Resort has some tempting 3- and 5-night Family Digital Detox Packages available. These include complimentary meals for the kids and fun activities for the whole family.

Isn’t it time your family had a digital detox?
